Arm debate continues

As the future of Arm is due to be debated in Parliament today (Monday), Nvidia's takeover of the Cambridge-based tech giant is prompting widespread comment.

In yesterday's Sunday Times, several of the city's leading entrepreneurs- including Cambridge Network Founder Directors Dr Hermann Hauser and Dr David Cleevely - expressed their views in a piece entitled 'ARM takeover sends ripples through Silicon Fen'.

In an article which examines the controversy, writer Liam Kelly wrote: "The sale by embattled Japanese conglomerate Softbank to Nvidia, the Silicon Valley chip-maker, has sparked outrage among some of those in 'Silicon Fen' - and among politicians - amid fears that ARM's prospective new owner may slash jobs in Cambridge, threaten its unique business model and spark a geopolitical tussle for technological supremacy."
