Award-winning life sciences team appoints Cambridge IP and commercial specialist

Rachel Bradley, an intellectual property and commercial lawyer, has joined Penningtons Manches’ award winning life sciences sector group in Cambridge.

With ten years’ experience in IP and commercial work, Rachel previously worked as corporate counsel for pharmaceutical company MedImmune, part of the AstraZeneca group. Prior to that, she was a senior solicitor in the technology and commerce team at Mills & Reeve.

Advising on a broad range of non-contentious and contentious IP matters, Rachel’s expertise includes trade mark matters, design and copyright advice and enforcement, domain name disputes, patent and trade mark licensing, and drafting and negotiating commercial agreements for life sciences organisations. Her clients range from life sciences and online retail companies through to clients in the NHS and higher education sectors.

During her time in-house, Rachel negotiated and drafted multi-million dollar in-licence and out-licence agreements and collaboration agreements, and advised on many other commercial agreements in support of the research and development function. A fluent French speaker, Rachel has also advised retail sector clients based in France.

Jim Kinnier Wilson, who heads the Penningtons Manches life sciences sector group, said: “As we have been actively seeking a quality life science lawyer for our Cambridge office, I am delighted to welcome such an able and experienced lawyer to the team, especially one who has spent many years with one of the region’s leading biopharma companies. Not only does her appointment fulfil our initial strategic aims but her substantial in-house experience also gives us a great platform to build our Cambridge life sciences practice and to provide relevant and quality advice to our clients.”
