Gareth Pugh age 15, fellow students and teachers visited the fair at the Birmingham NEC. He called at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) exhibition stand, which was divided into six zones covering areas of civil engineering including water, transport and tunnelling. A range of tasks was available in each zone and for every one completed, students could get a card stamped. Those with four stamps were entered into a daily draw for an iPad Mini. Gareth received his prize at special school assembly on Tuesday 14 July from ICE Essex Branch Chairman David Goodliff.
The Big Bang is the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people in the UK. It offers a combination of theatre shows, interactive workshops and exhibits, together with careers information provided by a wide range of organisations. During the four days of the fair over 1,500 people visited the ICE stand. The 2016 fair, also at the NEC, is on 16-19 March
