Birketts presents Race4Business cheque to charity

Essex-based charity SNAP (Special Needs And Parents), has received a £19,250 cheque from Birketts.

Earlier in the year, business men and women descended upon Chelmsford city centre to take part in Birketts’ Race4Business as they ran, jogged or walked their way round the 3.5 mile evening  run.

The cheque was presented to the charity by Richard Wollaston, the founder of the event and a consultant in the corporate team, to SNAP chairman Suzanne Davies.

Staff at Birketts have undertaken to raise £150,000 in celebration of the firm’s 150th anniversary for charities across East Anglia in 2013. This goal has just been reached, with the Race4Business amount making a significant contribution.

Richard commented  "Every year I am astounded by the generosity of the Essex business community as it continues to support this event. SNAP have been a fantastic charity to work with and we were happy to be able to raise money for a charity that provides so much support for families who have children and young people with special needs and disabilities in Essex."

Suzanne said  "The funds raised for SNAP through Birketts’ Race4Business will make a significant difference to the families we work with in Essex. When parents of pre-school children first come to The SNAP Centre they are often in need of a great deal of  support and we would  particularly like to spend the donations on our services for these families.  We are so grateful to Birketts for choosing SNAP as the beneficiary of this amazing event and we send enormous thanks to the runners and everyone who has supported Birketts’ Race4Business 2013."
