Businesses back apprenticeships at Cambridge Regional College

Businesses from across the region turned out in force to back apprenticeships at a Jobs Fair organised by Cambridge Regional College.

Publishing, printing services, construction, engineering and the restaurant industry were just a few of the sectors represented at the event designed to put students in touch with potential employers.

Among the employers exhibiting at the Apprenticeship Jobs Fair were NatWest, Johnson Matthey, Premier Holidays, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge University Hospitals and Wates Construction.

Angela Hughes, head of apprenticeship programmes at CRC, said the Jobs Fair’s focus on apprenticeships had proved highly successful.  .

“It was an excellent event and we were delighted that so many local businesses supported it by coming along with information about their vacancies and offering advice to students and local pupils,” she said.

“Apprenticeships can be key to business development and are a great way for young people to get a foot on the jobs ladder.”

Cambridge Regional College is a leading provider of apprenticeship programmes, with nearly 5,000 apprentices currently in training. Delivery of Apprenticeships is part-funded by the European Social Fund.
