The name will be formally launched at the Cambridge-Beijing Forum being held in Beijing today (25 March).
After considering several alternatives, Cambridge Judge has decided that its final choice is the most accurate reflection of the meaning of its name in Mandarin. The School appreciates that, for many, this will be a change to the way they are accustomed to referring to Cambridge Judge, but is confident that this will make the naming of the School clear and straightforward for all in future.
In reaching its decision, the School has sought the guidance of senior academics within the University of Cambridge, a distinguished former member of the Cambridge Judge Advisory Board and alumnus of the University, and several Mandarin-speaking colleagues and alumni. The School would like to thank all those involved for giving their time and expertise to this process.
Dean Christoph Loch said:
"We are delighted to confirm our Mandarin name, after what has been a fascinating process and one that has drawn on the expertise of so many colleagues, alumni and scholars, who have generously given their time to the project. We are especially pleased that the formal launch of the name will be among friends at the Cambridge-Beijing Forum, when business people, entrepreneurs, academics and policy-makers meet to discuss the way forward for private enterprise in China. We look forward to a long and fruitful collaboration with all of our Chinese friends and partners."
The Cambridge-Beijing Forum, entitled Realising the Chinese Dream, is taking place today at the Beijing Hong Kong Jockey Club. The event is being live-streamed to an international audience.
