Cambridge makes the headlines

Cambridge is not only attracting the attention of politicians and business people - its unique features are intriguing journalists too. An article in yesterday's (Monday's) Independent newspaper aims to explain "Why Cambridge is at the heart of Britain's economic recovery".

"New investment and a unique relationship between business and academia is transforming the Silicon Fen," it says, as it cites growth in CB1 near Cambridge Station; at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus - soon to be home to pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca - and The University's North West Development : "the single biggest investment by any university in the UK".

Stating that "more money is going into Cambridge than at any time since the Victorian age," writer Margareta Pagano investigates just what it is about our region that makes it exceptional.
