Christopher Spokes, Chair of the Governors, said the college was keen to recruit volunteers from the business sector who could bring valuable experience to the college.
“We are looking for new governors who care about education and training for young people, adults and professionals – areas that Cambridge Regional College excels in,” he said.
“The college is one of the largest and most successful in the region, with 4,000 full-time and 6,000 part-time students, and the governing board at CRC helps shape the careers of thousands of young people and adults, bringing far-reaching and lasting benefits to the region’s economy.
“It’s unpaid but it’s a highly fulfilling role which plays an important part in the college’s development.”
The college is looking for three new governors to take the place of retiring members, and is hoping to attract volunteers with relevant business, professional, or community experience – and particularly those from the business sector.
“Governors work with the college’s senior management team as financial custodians, and with an annual budget of around £40 million, we would welcome governors with experience in the areas of finance and audit,” said Christopher.
Current Governors include senior managers in some of the region’s leading businesses, academics and local councillors. The college’s Board of Governors – the Corporation – meets about six times a year.

Cambridge Regional College is one of the largest providers of full-time further education for 16 to 19 year-olds in the eastern region, with around 4,000 full-time and 6,000 part-time students. Students come in from a 40-mile radius, covering Cambridge and its surrounding villages, eastern Bedfordshire, northern Essex and western Suffolk.
