Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce will host its annual International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration on Friday 6 March 2026, bringing together business and community leaders at Huntingdon Racecourse from 10.30am–2.00pm.

Aligned with this year’s global IWD theme, ‘Give To Gain,’ the event will champion generosity, collaboration and collective action to accelerate progress for women. The campaign emphasises that when individuals, organisations and communities give – through mentorship, advocacy, resources, education or opportunity – the impact multiplies. When women thrive, we all rise.

The programme features a dynamic panel of speakers from sport, science, business and transport, each sharing practical insights into driving meaningful cultural change.

Kieran Wood, Youth Engagement Manager at the Cambridge United Foundation, will discuss how football is being used to challenge Violence Against Women and Girls through the innovative Pledge United Programme, equipping young men to stand up against discrimination and misogyny.

Kieran commented: “We are proud of the leadership role Cambridge United Foundation has been playing in this vitally important area, and we know we can play a unique part in reaching boys and young men through the ‘power of the badge’ and what we represent. We have adapted the curriculum from Jon Hamilton and Inspire Indonesia as we look to equip boys to become agents of change and understand their responsibilities in shaping culture.”

Dr Gisela Otten, Chair of the Cambridge United Women Board, biotech scientist and former captain, will reflect on balancing elite sport with a STEM career and her transition into club leadership.

Georgina McCrae, Planning Director at Allison Homes, will explore how intentional mentorship can empower underrepresented voices and strengthen leadership pipelines in male-dominated industries.

Ian De Chastelain, Training Manager at Stagecoach East, will share insights from the award-winning Buses Against Abuse initiative, demonstrating how businesses can collaborate to promote safer public spaces.

The event will conclude with a networking lunch, providing attendees with the opportunity to connect and continue the conversation.

Charlotte Horobin, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, said:
“International Women’s Day is not only a moment to celebrate achievement, but a call to action. ‘Give To Gain’ reminds us that progress happens when we actively invest in one another. By sharing knowledge, creating opportunity and standing together as a business community, we can accelerate change and build a more inclusive and prosperous future for everyone.”

Sponsorship packages are available for organisations wishing to support the event and align with the ‘Give To Gain’ campaign. For further information or to book, please visit: https://www.cambridgeshirechamber.co.uk/events-training/events/international-womens-day-3/
