It’s less than a week to go until Cambridge’s first Christmas Festival opens its doors on Parker's Piece. And, members of the Cambridge Cheer Academy were so keen to jump the queues, that they turned out in style to be the first to claim their tickets.
Based in North Cambridge, the Cambridge Cheer Academy is an award winning national club formed in January 2014. It aims to bring affordable lessons to the community and promote health and wellbeing in a fun and engaging way.
Abby Regler, head coach, from Cambridge Cheer Academy said: “We really enjoy keeping fit and ice skating is a great way to stay supple and healthy. We can’t wait for a chance to check out the ice-rink and when the team at the North Pole Festival asked us to get involved with the launch, we literally jumped at the chance.”
Open daily, between 17 November and 8 January 2018, the popular attraction focuses on a relaxed festival atmosphere to encourage more people to chill out and celebrate this magical season.
From the thrills of skating in style across the glistening outdoor ice rink, to the festive Fun Fair, with exciting rides from twisting Dodgems to the Roller Coaster, it's an ideal opportunity to meet up with friends and family, host your office party with a difference, or even treat someone special to a skate date. Visitors can also capture their festive moments with a special souvenir photograph.
Families are welcome and can enjoy all the fun of the fair with special Mamas and Papas events, giving younger families the chance to learn new skating skills during the day.
To warm up after a night out at the festival, the North Pole's cosy Alpine Lodge bar serves a tempting range of drinks from warming hot chocolate and mulled wine, to chilled beer and ice cool Prosecco. A festive selection of authentic pop-up food stalls will also be at the festival, selling tasty treats from crepes to churros and no winter festival is complete without an authentic German Swing Grill.
