CIIPM take 2: An IP meeting with a difference

Following on the success of the 2016 1st Cambridge Information and Intellectual Property Meeting (CIIPM), its organisers were encouraged to continue their endeavour to create an annual knowledge sharing meeting to bring together up to 60 people with an interest in technology innovation and commercialisation to consider aspects of information and intellectual property important for business success.

The 2nd CIIPM takes place on Wednesday 5th July at Homerton College Conference Centre. Join us at 1pm for lunch, and an extended afternoon with seven speakers and seven exhibitors and plenty of time for networking.

CIIPM is organised by two Cambridgeshire based Information and IP focused practioners - Extract Information Ltd (http://www.extractinfo.info/) and Patent Search & Information Management Ltd (http://www.psandim.com/). Both Jane List and Stuart Newbold founded their businesses in 2013, following careers which spanned IP, information and technology industries. CIIPM was conceived to bring these fields together.

The pair recognised a need for an independent meeting, where technology innovators could meet with IP specialists, legal teams, investors, and information providers in a neutral space to make sense of ‘big data’, artificial intelligence, IP issues, patent, legal and commercial information. The meeting offers not only great opportunities for networking, but importantly opportunities to learn from a range of practitioners with insights for ambitious technology companies, about setting up collaborations, understanding how to make the most of patent box, using IP to protect innovation, to define a market place, - and more on the successful  ommercialisation of technology products.

All exhibition slots are now taken, and we are pleased to welcome back three organisations - Minesoft, patent database and IP analysis tools provider, UK IPO, who can field all your questions about patent and trademark filing and reviewing, and CAS chemical information and structure search specialists, - who were with us last year, and equally pleased to welcome Questel, patent search and IP lifecycle software providers, patsnap, with their template based approach to patent analytics reporting, Rising Sun Communications, presenting expert Japanese to English patent and other technical information translation services, and CFL Software Limited, whose software, originally built for plagiarism detection now offers much potential for the patent analytics scene - for this year’s event.

Speaking at CIIPM will be Emily Foges, Luminance, on artificial intelligence for contracts analysis, Marc Wilkinson, J A Kemp, on patenting in Europe and the forthcoming (or maybe not) unified patent court and system, Paula Juckes from UCB on competitive intelligence through patents, Maria Peyman, Birketts, on contracts and IP matters, Deepti Agarwal on R&D tax credits, Guy Newcombe, Archipelago Technology, on managing IP on a budget, the technology start up perspective, and Nicola Baker Munton from Strategm IPM will round off the formal part of the afternoon with her talk on the importance of trade secrets. With luck we will be taking our canapes and drinks on the lovely lawns at Homerton to round off the meeting.

Attendance costs from £95 + VAT, via Eventbrite and registration in advance is required. We hope you will decide to join us! Any questions contact jane@extractinfo.info or stuart@psandim.com
