Nearly 3,000 full-time students currently study at the college, and a proposed merger with Huntingdonshire Regional College will mean an even greater focus on meeting the needs of business in the wider region.

The college, with an annual budget of c£35 million, is among the country's top Further Education colleges for vocational, technical and professional training and is keen to recruit a volunteer who could bring valuable business experience.

Vernice Key, Chair of the Governors, said: “We are particularly looking for a new governor with a background in finance who will help the college as it grows through the proposed merger with its neighbouring college.

“The governing board at Cambridge Regional College helps shape the careers of thousands of young people and adults, bringing far-reaching benefits to the region’s economy, and the highly fulfilling role of each governor contributes an important part in the college’s development.

“We are very proud to be one of the top 10% of colleges in the country for level 3 student achievement and a top 20 apprenticeship provider.”

The college is hoping to attract volunteers with business or professional experience – particularly those who can provide support for its Finance and Resources Committee.

The College’s Board of Governors – the Corporation – meets about eight times a year, usually in the early evening. For more information, contact Emily Baldwin, Head of Governance, on 01223 418213 or email ebaldwin@camre.ac.uk
