HR managers from 10 colleges attended the free teach-in at the college’s SmartLife conference centre to find out how the levy could affect them and the benefits of employing apprentices.

The event, which consisted of a presentation, Q&A and networking lunch, provided advice and guidance on the changes to apprenticeship funding – with attendees praising the well-organised and focused day.

Among the colleges who attended the briefing were Murray Edwards, Trinity Hall, Clare, Selwyn, Churchill, Pembroke, Downing, Trinity Hall and Sidney Sussex.

David McElroy, from CRC’s employer engagement team, said it had been a very successful event – with more planned.

“We had great feedback from the colleges attending the briefing – one said it had surpassed all expectations and several have asked us for follow-up meetings. We’re looking forward to building a great relationship with individual colleges and the university as a whole,” he said.

“We plan to organise future briefing sessions specifically for colleges to keep them up to date with changes and developments in apprenticeship funding.”
