College's state-of-the-art engineering facilities available to hire

Cambridge Regional College is offering its state-of-the-art engineering facilities for hire for the first time – giving businesses the chance to use its industry-standard equipment and workshops for specialist jobs.

The college, which recently invested £3million in its engineering facilities, is also putting on bespoke training in key areas including abrasive wheels, workshop practice, wiring regulations updates and water regulations.

Engineering Workshop Manager Oliver Jeffries said the move would be a big benefit for local businesses.

“Our engineering department was designed to train our students in the skills needed by local employers which means we have a fantastic amount of state-of-the-art equipment which is ideal for businesses to hire for a one-off job or regular work,” he said.

“We have 3D printers, manufacturing workshops, specialist welding and fabrication areas, CAD suites, PLC, pneumatics and hydraulics training equipment, all available to hire.

“Our manufacturing workshop incorporates modern inspection equipment, 10 milling machines, 14 lathes, and full bench fitting facilities, so it is perfect for a company that needs a job doing but doesn’t want the costs of investing in its own equipment.”

The college’s welding and fabrication workshop is also available to hire, including its 18 welding bays with TIG, MIG and MMA, grinding bays, and cutting and folding equipment. CAD suites using Autodesk and SolidWorks are also available.
