CRC launches CIPD Higher Apprenticeship in Human Resource Management

Cambridge Regional College is launching a new CIPD Higher Apprenticeship in Human Resource Management, aimed at professionals in the industry who want to improve their qualifications. The apprenticeship is a Level 5 qualification, equivalent to the second year of a degree, and is ideal for current HR staff looking to increase their skills.

The new high-level qualification, available from January 2013, is a response to the Government’s drive to put Apprenticeships at the forefront of practical vocational training – and is heavily  subsidised.

Ray Hilton, a management consultant at CRC, said: “The employee, the business and the economy benefit, so it is a true win-win-win situation. Any good HR staff member who wants to aspire to becoming the best should seriously consider this qualification.

“It will consolidate and further develop competent HR staff, so that their contribution to the business is further enhanced in a senior capacity.

“The qualification is also candidate-led, which means that the college works around the candidate’s business schedule to optimise business efficiency and candidate results.”

Higher apprentices usually work in roles such as HR Executive, HR Officer, Assistant HR Manager or Assistant HR Advisor.

The qualification is open to all age groups and there are no formal qualification entry requirements, although candidates are expected to have considerable experience of HR procedures and work practices. A typical route might be a progression from the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice, for example.

In order to qualify, candidates should not be receiving any other Government-funded training, must be employed and not have prior attainment of a Level 4 qualification or above. Candidates must be British or EU residents.
