The team from Cambridge Regional College took an in-depth look at the weather at the event, working with secondary school pupils to design and test a prototype weather station for Duxford airfield.
STEM Team Duxford, hosted by the Imperial War Museum, is the region’s leading Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematicsactivity fair with two separate days for schools – the Young Investigators Day for younger pupils, and another focusing on STEM Careers for older pupils.
Over the two days, more than 1,000 pupils from 33 different schools attended the event and took part in 60 different workshops, put on by organisations ranging from Cambridge University to Jaguar Landrover.
Paul Breheny, head of STEM at Cambridge Regional College, said it had been an inspiring day.
“STEM East Duxford was an inspiring event for everyone who came and we were delighted to be part of it. Our students put on some excellent hands-on workshops which proved extremely popular with visiting schools,” he said.
“Skills in the STEM sectors are much in demand so it’s a great time for secondary school pupils to be thinking about training for careers in engineering, science and technology.”
