CUH named as one of the UK’s top hospitals

CUH is one of the CHKS 40Top Hospitals for 2014, an accolade awarded to the 40 top performing CHKS client trusts. The 40Top award is one of several awards that are part of the CHKSTop Hospitals programme.

As well as national awards for patient safety, quality of care and data quality, CHKS celebrates excellence amongst its clients across the UK.

The 40Top award is based on the evaluation of 22 key performance indicators covering safety, clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.

CUH was one of only five Trusts shortlisted for the CHKSTop Hospitals programme patient safety award 2014.

Jag Ahluwalia, CUH medical director, said: "CHKS sets high performance targets and achieving them is a credit to all our staff who, through their dedication and compassion, are continually improving the service we provide for patients.

“Quality, safety and innovation are key values for the Trust and this award again confirms that CUH is one of safest places to receive treatment, as well as offering fantastic career opportunities.”

The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards event was held in London on 13 May and was attended by over 200 guests including leaders from across the healthcare sector including: NHS England, Monitor, the Trust Development Authority and acute trusts.

These awards recognise outstanding performance in those areas which we believe are critical to delivering good patient care.
