SDC's presentation will explore the fact that many device developers are now using free and open source software in order to accelerate innovation and reduce development costs, and how this is resulting in an increasing need for tools and resources that can enable these companies to manage the use of the open source code that is located and adopted by their developers.
This presentation will explore tools that can analyse software projects to ensure that all open source code components have the necessary integrity and do not breach licensing or company rules, as well as discussing resources for the acquisition of open source software components.
"We have been working with the open source development community for many years," said Stuart Parker, Managing Director of SDC. "So we understand better than most, the legal and technical challenges project managers face when sourcing and validating code. There are now tools and resources that will not only help accelerate development but will also provide peace of mind to those managing the commercial aspects of such developments. We will be discussing how these types of tools are now becoming essential development technology."
The Device Developers Conference will be a key engineering event for 2013 and has attracted sponsorship from leading tools and technology vendors in the embedded systems and electronic development sector. Taking place in Cambridge, Bristol and Manchester, each location will host a one-day conference consisting of half-day technical workshops, technical presentations and a vendor exhibition of software, hardware and development and debugging tools.
"We are very pleased to be helping to sponsor this event," said Stuart Parker. "The UK is a leader in the development of microprocessor based equipment and it really does need a new event where engineers and vendors can come to together to discuss new challenges, explore new technologies and meet new suppliers."
Other companies attending this event and presenting include single board computer manufacturer Blue Chip Technology, embedded systems development consultants Pebble Bay and German debug tool company Lauterbach. Topics will range from the ‘Debugging Multicore Systems' to 'An Engineer's Guide to Off The Shelf Hardware'.
Attendance at the Device Developers' Conference is free to engineers and project managers working in the technology sector, although the half-day workshops will be subject to a small charge.
