Device Developers' Conference explores hardware debugging

Organisers of the 2014 UK Device Developers’ Conference have announced that hardware debug tool specialists JTAG Technologies will be presenting an introduction to boundary-scan and its use at board-level. This presentation will also look into how JTAG is being used at device-level in Micros and FPGAs.

The UK Device Developers' Conference is a one-day event for electronic engineers, computer scientists, designers and developers working in the field of intelligent systems and devices. It provides an important opportunity for engineers to learn about the latest trends and technologies in embedded systems development. Featuring half-day technology workshops, technical presentations and a vendor exhibition of tools, software and hardware, the Device Developers' Conference has established itself as a key event in the UK engineering calendar.

The 2014 Device Developers’ Conference covers four dates and four locations for next year’s event.  Starting with Bristol on Tuesday 20th May, the event will then visit Cambridge (22nd May), Manchester (3rd June) and Scotland (5th June).

“We are very pleased to have JTAG Technologies presenting at the 2014 Conference,” said Richard Blackburn, Event Organiser.  “This will be an important contribution to the hardware stream of presentations. We are confident that the delegates will appreciate an informative and technical presentation such as this.”

JTAG/Boundary-scan testing has proved its worth for detecting PCBA manufacturing faults in production for more than 20 years. Now, through the introduction of lower cost and even free tools, JTAG is being widely viewed as the 'go to' technologyfor debugging prototypes with faults, configuring CPLDs, FPGAs and flash, and even as a conduit for validating IP cores within FPGAs.

“We are looking forward to participating in the 2014 Device Developers’ Conference,” said James Stanbridge, UK Sales and Support Manager (pictured). “ We regard this event as an essential forum for UK developers and engineers working in the field of embedded systems. It’s an important chance for us to discuss our latest hardware debug technologies, and a valuable opportunity for engineers to discuss their latest challenges, and to also explore technologies for future projects.”

This 2014 conference is to be sponsored by German debug tool company Lauterbach and UK based embedded systems training experts Feabhas.  Exhibiting companies and presenters will include Wind River, QNX, JTAG Technologies, LDRA and Phaedrus Systems.

The 2014 event will include both a software stream of presentations, and a hardware stream of presentations. Some key topics for next year event include ASIC/FPGA development, DSP development, Android development, PCB design and test, data management and security, Enclosure Design, realtime operating systems and GUI/HMI development."
