Fireworks on Midsummer Common

Cambridge will be living up to its reputation for stunning firework displays when this year’s event, organised by Cambridge City Council, takes place on Wednesday 5 November on Midsummer Common.

The annual bonfire night and fireworks is one of the largest free displays around and one of the city’s longest running and best-loved traditions, attracting in the region of 15-20,000 people annually.

One of the city’s best loved events, many of Cambridge’s leading companies have once again joined forces in a unique joint sponsorship supporting this year’s fireworks.

A Partner at Birketts, this year’s Business Champion, Caroline Stenner said: ‘I have lived and worked in Cambridge all my adult life and raised my family here. The fireworks remain the most popular annual event for the family. Birketts is delighted to support the City Council in bringing together a consortium of local businesses to make the 2014 fireworks better than ever.’

The fun begins at 6pm with Thurston's Fun Fair. Between 6.45pm and 7.20pm there will be a fire show by Phoenix Performance and the first rocket will be launched at 7.30pm followed by the lighting of the bonfire.

Large numbers of people are anticipated, allow plenty of time for your journey, arrive early and wherever possible walk, cycle, or use public transport.

Donations of at least £1 per person are encouraged. In order to create such a superb free public display of this scale, in addition to support from the business community, contributions from the public are essential.

Please give generously to help keep this great event alive.
