Lauterbach enhances support for debugging safety critical software

Lauterbach's Tool Qualification Support-Kit will help developers meet code coverage analysis requirements when developing avionic and automotive applications in compliance with DO-178C and ISO 26262.

Lauterbach, the leading manufacturer of microprocessor development tools, has announced a Tool Qualification Support-Kit for its TRACE32 code coverage analysis tools.

Lauterbach's acclaimed TRACE32 trace tools provide fast and efficient trouble shooting capabilities to detect complex errors that only occur under run-time conditions.

The Qualification Support-Kit has been designed to help customers facing the many challenges of software development for safety-related systems, to complement the tool qualification when TRACE32 is selected as the preferred solution for trace-based code coverage analysis. It aims to meet the requirements for the development of avionic and automotive applications in compliance with DO-178C and ISO 26262.

"The TRACE32 Tool Qualification Support-Kit is provided as a prefabricated package containing documents and a test suite for the validation of TRACE32,” said Barry Lock, UK Manager, Lauterbach. “This should be a great help to engineers in this field. In the upcoming months the scope of the test suite will be continuously extended to provide support for a number of platforms.”

German based Lauterbach is recognised for both engineering excellence and exceptional technical support and its tools have become a favourite with many hi-tech engineers. Lauterbach tools support all the major families of embedded processor cores, covering products from 75 silicon companies. The quality and capability of these tools enable engineering teams to develop robust code whilst minimising development time lost to debugging.

“As software is becoming ever more complex, with more lines of code and far more sophisticated algorithms, ensuring its integrity has becoming a major challenge for engineers and developers,” said Barry Lock. “ Furthermore, proving the integrity of the code is a further challenge. This package will help developers address this challenge.”
