Overbanding Joint Sealing Tape Skid-Resistant, Thermoplastic, and Fully BBA / HAPAS Approved
Ready Set Supplied Overbanding tape is the professional solution for sealing joints in asphalt, tarmacadam and concrete surfaces. This pre-formed thermoplastic bitumen tape is applied over the edge of a pothole repair, reinstatement cut or utility trench to stop water from penetrating the joint and weakening the repair. By sealing the surface properly, you prevent fretting, cracking, reflective cracking and premature failure, all common issues when a joint is left open.
This tape is fully BBA / HAPAS approved for use across the UK road network and contains high PSV aggregate throughout the material, giving a consistent skid-resistance rating of 60+ SRV. Unlike some cheaper alternatives, the anti-skid finish is built into the tape itself, not just added to the surface, so it remains grippy even in wet conditions or during heavy traffic. Application Instructions
Installation is quick and does not require specialist equipment.
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry and above 0°C. Remove any loose debris.
- For concrete or block paving, apply a bitumen primer and let it dry.
- Cut the tape to length and position it directly over the joint (slightly overlap sections if needed).
- Gently warm the surface with a gas torch, then heat the tape in a sweeping motion from around 200mm above.
- The tape will soften and bond to the surface. Avoid overheating or scorching.
- Allow it to cool for 5–10 minutes.
- Check adhesion with a flat blade. Reheat edges if required.
- Once cooled, the area can be opened to traffic immediately.
Cold Weather Advice
If working in cold weather, store the rolls indoors before use. Cold tape becomes brittle and may snap when unrolled. Pre-warming ensures it lays flat and melts evenly for a clean finish.
A Reliable, Professional Finish
This overbanding tape is relied on across the UK by highway teams, local councils, utility contractors, civil engineers and surfacing companies. It delivers a clean, long-lasting, compliant finish on pothole repairs, trench reinstatements, tarmac patches, driveways and general asphalt maintenance.
Whether you’re sealing a fresh patch, protecting an exposed reinstatement joint or preventing water ingress on small repair jobs, this tape remains one of the most effective and durable joint-sealing solutions available.
