New Year apprenticeship offer for employers

Businesses in the region are being offered a New Year gift which could save them up to £750 when they take on an apprentice.

Cambridge Regional College is reducing employer fees on apprenticeship programmes to just £150 between January 1 and 31 to help support smaller businesses in the New Year.

The offer is open to all businesses with under 1,000 employees, and applies to apprentices aged 19 and over who are signed up to certain Level 2 and 3 apprenticeship programmes during January.

Angela Hughes, head of apprenticeship programmes at CRC, said the college wanted to give a boost to businesses thinking about an apprenticeship for a new employee or existing member of staff.

“The offer will save employers up to £750, so could make a real difference to whether or not a company takes on an apprentice,” she said. “There are no fees for apprentices aged from 16 to 18, and now it will cost just £150 in fees for older apprentices signed up in January.

“Apprenticeships aren’t just for school-leavers – they can contribute to existing employees’ professional development by upskilling and increasing their knowledge and enabling them to gain industry-recognised qualifications.”

The new low fee applies to apprenticeships across a range of sectors, including retail, marketing, warehousing and facilities management. For a full list, see http://www.camre.ac.uk/employers/january-offer/

Apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds remain fully-funded, which means there are no fees for employers, and the college can also help with recruitment.
