Pebble Bay experiences strong demand for embedded systems development services

UK software development consultancy sees international demand for its expertise

UK based embedded systems development consultancy Pebble Bay has announced that 2012 has been a good year for the company, both in terms of demand for its services and the success of the many projects undertaken.

Pebble Bay engineers are specialists in the development of intelligent systems and devices that utilise microprocessors and real-time software.  They assist manufacturers in the development of new products and the further development and optimisation of existing products.

2012 has seen Pebble Bay working with customers in the UK, France and Germany. These clients have included major technology companies such as Siemens, Thales and Ultra Electronics, with projects in areas such as industrial control, defence, and communications.

"It's been a good year for us," said Ian Willats, Managing Director of Pebble Bay. " We are finding that more companies are turning to us for help, in order to meet their deadlines or simply to bring in additional expertise on a temporary basis. This year's projects have ranged from a mission critical railway control system to high speed video processing. What has been especially rewarding, is that we are seeing a lot of repeat business and referrals from within the industry sectors."

Throughout the year Pebble Bay has been undertaking work such as creating a BSP for VxWorks 6.9, developing enhancements to a Linux crypto driver for a Freescale Security Engine (SEC), a hardware test program for an industrial controller and enhancements to a Linux kernel DMA driver for high speed video processing.

“Most of this year’s projects have been on Freescale platforms but we have also worked on other platforms such as the TI DaVinci devices,” said John Efstathiades, Technical Director at Pebble Bay. “The feedback from our customers has been very positive, it’s been a very encouraging and rewarding year for Pebble Bay. It is good to know that companies are increasingly seeing the commercial and technical benefits of bringing in external expertise from companies such as Pebble Bay, for the board level engineering aspects of their projects.”

Pebble Bay has recently announced that it will be supporting the UK 'Device Developers Conference' planned for May 2013 with a series of half-day workshops that covers such topics as software portability and hardware interfacing. The Device Developers Conference will be a one-day event, taking place in Cambridge, Bristol and Manchester.  http://www.device-developer-conference.co.uk/
