Prima successfully implements ERP system

Prima is pleased to announce the successful completion of the EPICOR Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation project. The cloud-based ERP is a significant investment for Prima and it is expected to deliver significant efficiencies across the whole business, benefiting all our customers.

Why a new ERP solution?

As with many businesses, the sustained business growth at Prima has resulted in a clear requirement for a more robust Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool. It is hoped that this will provide an end to end, cross functional process alignment, as well as an intelligent software to improve business efficiencies through smart stocktaking, live trend analysis and data-driven decisions.

Tracey Bousfield, Financial Controller, explained, “although there are many ERP systems on the market, electronics manufacturing has a unique set of requirements and this meant that any platform would need to be carefully evaluated."

"As a business providing several electronic services across a diverse client base, robust quoting services, order management and supply chain management are all considered critical. It is also vital to have a live feed of current stock levels of components held to ensure efficient and accurate planning.”

“Sustainable data management, data security and remote working (particularly with the advent of COVID-19) were additional factors in the selection of an ERP product, as well as ensuring that there was minimal impact on the business during the integration period.”

Why Epicor and CBO?

After careful consideration of all the business requirements and scoring of the options available to Prima, it was clear that Epicor provided the most holistic solution for the business. Tracey said, “It is an agile system particularly suited to the manufacturing environment with the ability to respond to rapidly changing priorities; in addition, it is cloud based which should speed up transactions and will make the system more accessible, particularly at this time where there is an increased need for staff to work from home.”

Tracey continued, “the Epicor project is a significant investment for Prima, but there is a high degree of confidence that both the breadth and depth of the system will benefit the business and allow for clear and concise control across all functional areas. ”The decision to make CBO the partner to deliver the project was relatively straightforward. Tracey said, “Prima’s sister company (Denchi Group Ltd) recommended Clear Business Outcome (CBO) to assist with the process of developing and executing the project to purchase and seamlessly integrate the Epicor ERP into the business.”

“After initial talks with CBO, the Prima management team were reassured that their portfolio contained similar manufacturing businesses who had been expertly guided through similar ERP integrations with minimal disruption to manufacturing activity.”
