REAP Conference 2016 looks to find disruptive technologies for agriculture

Agri-Tech East’s national REAP Conference in November is the UK’s only agri-tech conference where you can meet representatives from global agri-business alongside the newest of start-ups, spot the innovators of the future, and see it all in practical action through a series of technical demonstrations and exhibits.

To mark the opening of ticket registrations to all for REAP 2016 - which takes place on Wednesday 9th November 2016 at the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre (Hinxton, Cambridge, CB10 1RQ) - Agri-Tech East has launched a brand-new video. The team, who interviewed a few delegates at the end of last year’s conference to see how they felt about the day and what they got as a result of attending the conference –  says: "Don’t take our word for it, hear it direct from attendees!"

REAP Conference 2016, focusing on ‘Innovation for an Agricultural Revolution’, is shaping up to be even bigger and better than before, with a fantastic programme of speakers including technologists and software developers, farmers and growers, and research institutes. A number of hands-on technical demonstrations are lined up, in addition to quick-fire presentations from early career researchers and exciting agri-tech start-ups.

Dr Belinda Clarke, Director of AgriTech East, says:

The agriculture industry is ready for a revolution through the application of disruptive technology. To this end, we’ve gathered some of the most innovative minds from within and outside the industry to bring in new thinking and an untraditional approach to help take the industry up a gear. Some of the companies represented in the programme include BT, Fujitsu, Lockheed Martin, PA Consulting, John Innes Centre, University of Cambridge (Plant Sciences department), and the NFU (see the full programme here).

We are also delighted to announce that REAP 2016 is being headlined by world renowned farmer Gary Zimmer of Midwestern BioAg, the father of so-called “biological farming” who has invested years of research and understanding of farming systems to apply the best science to agriculture to maximise both soil health and profitability.

Farmers he has worked with have increased yields by 50% or more, but as he says….”it is not by doing what they have always done….”

With an inspiring speaker line up, coupled with our ever-popular Start-Up Showcase, featuring six of the hottest young companies presenting their innovations, as well as lightning presentations from young researchers in our Emerging Agri-Tech session, REAP Conference is one you can’t afford to miss.
