Saturday 23 March 2-8pm. Day of performances, live works and the launch of a new publication by 2012 writer-in-residence, Patrick Coyle

The exhibiting artists are Salvatore Arancio, Ed Atkins, Jonathan Baldock, Edwin Burdis, Nicolas Deshayes, Jess Flood-Paddock, Emma Hart, Nilsson Pflugfelder, Flora Parrott, Philomene Pirecki, Elizabeth Price, Stuart Whipps, musician Luke Abbott and writer Patrick Coyle.

Relatively Absolute explores how visible and implied structures might be used to uncover meaning, narrative and paradox. Amongst new work, which includes sculpture, photography, performance and talks, each artist has been invited to contribute source material that has informed its production, derived from the research that took place during Wysing’s three six-week-long residencies, The Cosmos, The Mirror and The Forest.

These objects, artworks, talks and texts are presented amongst the finished pieces but not attributed to the artist whose work it has influenced. They offer an insight not only into the work produced but also the research, discussion and exchange of ideas that happens during residencies at Wysing.

In the exhibition’s system of associations between artworks and research, the audience is invited to question the possible relationships, affects and encounters between the artworks, and in the production of the work.  Through proximity, the real and imagined connections created in the mind of the viewer explore how intuitive structures and systems might be used to uncover meaning.

Admission to exhibition and performances is free; for further visitor information see www.wysingartscentre.org
