Response to 2014 Budget awarding City Deal to Greater Cambridge

Cambridge Ahead welcomes today’s announcement in the Chancellor’s Spring Statement confirming the Government’s decision to award City Deal status to the Greater Cambridge area to fund critical investment around key areas such as infrastructure, housing and transport which have presented a barrier to prosperity for the region.

Jane Paterson-Todd, Chief Executive for Cambridge Ahead commented, “We are pleased to hear the positive outcome of this announcement today from Central Government. The three Councils – the City, County and South Cambridgeshire Councils are to be congratulated on their joint efforts in securing this deal.

Cambridge Ahead is committed to influencing and supporting the sustainable growth of Cambridge and we were delighted to help the Councils in the latter stages of the negotiation with Central Government.  This is a great example of what can be achieved when local enterprises and the local authorities collaborate.”
