The aim of the Final Furlong dinner – presented in partnership by the ROAR, Newmarket Racecourse and Discover Newmarket, and hosted by TV presenter Derek ‘Tommo’ Thompson – is to raise money for three local charities. During the evening, diners will enjoy a fun-filled racing evening in the ROAR ‘winner’s enclosure’ followed by a sumptuous two-course dinner.
As the host for the evening, Tommo will engage in lively repartee with a racing panel, which will include some of the famous names and faces from the racing world. Last year, the panel included champion jockey Hayley Turner, and trainers Charlie Fellowes and Martin Smith. This year, the ROAR’s partnership with Newmarket Racecourses and Discover Newmarket will ensure the same calibre of racing folk will be in attendance.
For enthusiastic horseracing fans this is a chance to take a step behind the scenes and hear from the Jockeys and Trainers themselves what it means to be a part of this ‘Sport of Kings’. There will also be a fast-paced racing game, providing diners with the chance to show off their lucky streak and take a gamble for charity.
Speaking ahead of the event, Amy Starkey, Regional Director, Jockey Club Racecourses - East Region said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the ROAR Festival again for the third consecutive year. The Final Furling dinner is always a truly fabulous evening for everyone who comes along, including the panel, and what’s even better is that it raises much needed money for some very worthwhile regional charities.”
Tony Murdock, Founder and Chairman of the ROAR Festival commented: “We are thrilled to be working with Newmarket Racecourses and Discover Newmarket this year. The partnership will certainly up the ante and help make the evening even bigger and better than ever before. It’s going to be a very exciting Final Furlong dinner and evening for all of us, especially the diners who will have the chance to see and hear from some of their racing heroes.”
