Sable&Hawkes complete concept identity for contemporary English restaurant Smoke&Mirrors

Smoke&Mirrors: the name and design approach take inspiration from the restaurant's location opposite the MI6 building, and the identity and interior finish will reflect the secret and mysterious feel of the building and its operations.

Taking inspiration from the grey of the Thames, the red of Vauxhall Bridge and the blue of the MI6 building, the colour palette is warm, moody, smokey tones. Think: amethyst, claret, pigeon grey, teal, peacock blue with a hint of metallic, so silver, pewter, gold or copper. Interiors will use a mix of luxe materials and fabrics.

Built on two floors, there will be a bar and casual seating downstairs, leading to an open terrace that is adjacent to the pathway running alongside the Thames. The restaurant is upstairs and accessed by a 'secret' staircase, with dining for 60 including some private 'dining pods' which will make the best of the view.

Smoke&Mirrors will be an all day restaurant, open for breakfast through to dinner. The area, Pimlico, is residential, so the venue will appeal to the local community, with the ground floor bar area being used throughout the day for coffee, and pastries with free wi-fi included. For customers that visit Tate Britain, a traditional afternoon tea would also be available.
