Senior appointment takes college’s hospitality to new level

A Cambridge College has made a senior appointment to reflect its commitment to the customer experience, centred on delivering the highest standards of service.

Murray Edwards College has appointed Teri Byrne as Catering Operations Manager, a new role which encompasses a broader range of responsibility for the hospitality functions for all customers – including Fellows, staff, students and conference and events delegates.

With three years at the College as Front of House Manager, Teri has recently completed a Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management in her spare time which has enhanced her skills for her new role.

“Meeting and surpassing the expectations of all of our customers is possibly one of the most challenging aspects of my job”, she says. “How do we continue to keep customers engaged and stand out from the crowd?

“I am passionate about helping my new team – in excess of 40 including casual staff – to develop their skills and experience through our ongoing training programme and collaborative discussions on how we can be more creative as a customer-facing operation.”

Teri has more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, gained in hotels and pubs, as well as prestigious meeting venues such as Newmarket Racecourses.

Murray Edwards College, located in ten acres of peaceful gardens, has two dedicated conference centres, providing flexible meeting space for a wide range of conferences and events. With free car parking on site, it offers 162 modern en suite bedrooms during the vacations, in addition to 12 in The Kaetsu Centre. Visitors can enjoy the extensive modern New Hall Art Collection on display throughout the College, comprising a wide range of works donated by female artists including sculptures in the gardens.
