The event is organised by the Strascheg Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SIIE) of EBS Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany.

The awards honour outstanding scientific papers on Innovation and Technology Management that “combine cutting-edge research and high practical relevance, providing state-of-the-art insights.” Jurors come from both business and academia, and assessment criteria focus on innovativeness of the research and the market and adaptation potential of the findings for the industry involved.

The paper – published in Strategic Management Journal – is entitled “The disruptor’s dilemma: TiVo and the US television ecosystem.” The article outlines how TiVo initially frightened the incumbent television industry, but then successfully navigated the “disruptor’s dilemma” by adjusting its strategy to gradually win support of the TV ecosystem.
