Sieve Creative work with GÉANT on data sonification video

GÉANT is the world’s most advanced Internet dedicated to research and education. The award-winning network supports 50 million users across Europe, working on some of the biggest science projects of our time, from CERN’s Large Hadron Collider to SKA, the largest radio telescope ever. It is managed by DANTE, a European Commission funded organisation headquartered in Cambridge.

Sieve Creative recently produced a short video for GÉANT, with motion graphics, to help explain the process of data sonification.

Data sonification, in short, is the conversion of vast amounts of digital data into sound signals (music), which can then be analysed by researchers and scientists faster and more accurately, than if that data were on a chart or graph.

The video was shot in DANTE’s offices at City House, Cambridge, organised by Tamsin Henderson. Tamsin scripted and orchestrated the shoot, arranging for her colleague and star of the video, Domenico Vicinanza, to be the speaker.

Sieve Creative also designed the graphics to be used, in motion, to help convey the subject matter to the viewer.

Tamsin Henderson says “Sieve Creative has provided the GÉANT project with a professional service from start to finish. They took the time to understand our brief and vision for the video project. We had very high expectations, and we were delighted with the results delivered by Sieve Creative.”
