There is a real trend to create systems that function from anywhere. Hybrid networks with strong cloud adoption and increased security is definitely high on the agenda for most.

One of the other topics is telephony. Sure, we can get away with working from mobiles for a week or two. Even with the not so amazing signal quality.

The most common problems we are seeing:

  1. The customer journey from calling reception to ending up with the right person.
  2. Poor signal.
  3. Security. Are your mobiles managed by policy and a mdm?
  4. You are probably still paying for ISDN lines in the office.
  5. The ISDN is going end of life and most phone systems will need to be replaced or setup to use SIP.

We faced these issues ourselves and migrated our 10K Mitel system when the first lockdown was announced. We were thinking about it for some time but the situation we faced encouraged the decision making process.

What we experienced…

  1. All our staff had the ability to make, receive and transfer calls as if they were at work. Yes we have MS Teams … but telephones still have a place for most of us.
  2. On the phone display we could see who was available or busy (that was a great little feature when working from home).
  3. To our customers, there was no change in the customer service experience. Their calls worked like they always did. Reception answered and simply transferred to the relevant person. Regardless if they were at home or part of the skeleton team at the office.
  4. We no longer had to think about the cost and effort involved in changing our aging system for another.
  5. We have the reliability and high availability you get from cloud solutions.
  6. We no longer cared that BT was making copper end of life.
  7. Changing was cost neutral! The cost of the ISDN line rental and phone calls covered the cost for the new system and new handsets! A no brainer!
  8. Ongoing changes to the system happens quickly as we don’t have to order and install parts … we simply turn the features on or off. We only pay for what we need.

Contact us if you would like some pricing or a no obligation free of charge telephony and connectivity audit. It’s highly likely that you will save money and end up with a better system and better connectivity …
