Top safety award for Cambridge Regional College

Cambridge Regional College has been awarded an Order of Distinction in the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards – one of just three colleges in the country to receive the top honour.

The Order is RoSPA’s highest award and recognises the college’s outstanding health and safety performance and its achievement in winning 17 consecutive Gold awards over the last 17 years.

It marks CRC’s continuing work on safeguarding students, staff and visitors, as well as promoting and raising awareness of safety in all areas of the college, including student competitions and workshops.

CRC Deputy Principal Alan Jones said the award was an immense achievement for the college.

“We place great importance on health and safety in all areas of the college and I am delighted that this commitment has been recognised with the RoSPA Order of Distinction,” he said.

“We have received more Gold awards than any other FE college in the country. It is a mark of achievement for all at CRC, but particularly for our Health and Safety officer Jeff Moody, who works constantly to raise awareness of safety issues.”

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management.

“Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Cambridge Regional College, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”

The Order of Distinction will be presented during a ceremony at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham in July.
