Jonathan Culpin, CEO of Anglian Learning said: “Mike has significant experience of headship and we are impressed with his commitment to implement our vision for Marleigh Primary Academy.

“We are pleased to welcome Mike to Anglian Learning. We will support him as he leads the school with his plans to provide a high-quality learning environment and to be aspirational for all those within its community.”

Mike Fish will join from Over Primary School where he has been Headteacher for the past nine years. He has also previously taught in several Cambridgeshire primaries since graduating from the University of Cambridge in 2000.

Mike said: “I am thrilled to have the privilege of becoming Marleigh’s first Headteacher. I am very much looking forward to working with the growing community and Anglian Learning in shaping exciting educational experiences through a broad curriculum focused on STEM learning.

“I have always seen the value in implementing the innovative and creative use of technology to engage and motivate children, as well as making the most of outdoor and real-life learning opportunities. At Marleigh Primary Academy we will encompass all of these learning approaches.”

Marleigh Primary Academy will have capacity for up to 420 primary and 52 nursery aged children. The school will have a particular teaching focus on STEM subjects - science, technology, engineering and mathematics – reflecting Cambridge’s excellence in these areas. For children aged 3 years old upwards, the nursery will provide a place where they can explore and develop their understanding.

The design of Marleigh Primary Academy has been developed by drawing on research into effective school design to provide a flexible approach to learning in the 21st Century. Pupils will be provided with access to outdoor areas including woodland for outdoor learning and extending Forest School approaches.

The new primary school and nursery will be at the heart of the Marleigh neighbourhood, where 1,300 new homes are being developed. The properties come in a range of designs from one to five-bedrooms to suit a range of residents and lifestyles.
