"Zero to HMI Hero" in three hours - workshop on the development of user interfaces (GUI/HMI) for real-time and embedded systems
Entitled "A Guide to Developing Robust, Realtime and Feature-rich GUI-driven Embedded Systems", this three-hour workshop will provide a step-by-step guide to using a realtime OS and the creation of a GUI (graphical user interface).
The Device Developers' Conference is an event for engineers, computer scientists and designers that are involved in the development of intelligent systems and devices. Consisting of technical workshops, an agenda of hardware and software presentations and an exhibition of tool and technology vendors, the Device Developers’ conference provides an important opportunity for the industry to share new developments and explore new concepts.
The 2014 Conference will take place in Bristol (May 20th), Cambridge (May 22nd), Manchester (June 3rd) and Scotland (June 5th).
"We will be looking at the very latest developments in OS and GUI developments," said Michael Freer, Sales Manager at QNX Software Systems in the UK. "This workshop will be a chance for engineers and developers to learn from industry experts and to have their questions answered. We'll be working with a Freescale i.MX 6 reference platform, with all stages of the development being clearly explained, and with an open forum for delegate's questions."
Through its embedded market specialisation and proven expertise, QNX Software Systems has become a trusted supplier to many of the world's largest device manufacturers and systems integrators. Companies such as Audi, Cisco, General Electric, Lockheed Martin, and Siemens depend on QNX® technology for automotive infotainment systems, network routers, medical devices, industrial automation systems, security and defense systems, and other mission-critical applications.
KDAB is one of the world’s largest independent sources of Qt knowledge, providing services, training and products for Qt development. Qt is a cross-platform application framework that is widely used for developing application software with a graphical user interface.
"KDAB will show how to deploy Qt 5 to the target and set up the host environment ready to develop with Qt 5 on the QNX® Neutrino® operating system," said Michael Freer. "The presenter will then develop a small HMI application using C++ for a robust backend and Qt Quick 2 (QML) technology for the GUI. Qt Quick 2 provides a very simple and elegant way to harness the power of the GPU and OpenGL in order to provide the smooth user experience demanded in today's devices."
This 2014 conference is to be sponsored by German debug tool company Lauterbach and UK based embedded systems training experts Feabhas. Exhibiting companies and presenters will include Wind River, JTAG Technologies, LDRA, Pebble Bay, SDC Systems and Phaedrus Systems.
"The concept of multiple locations for this event is proving worthwhile," said Richard Blackburn, Event Organiser. "Developers working in the hi-tech sector are usually busy people working under a lot of pressure, so having a choice of four locations on four different dates makes it much easier for them to attend."
The Device Developer’s Conference, including the software and hardware technical presentation streams, is free to attend, to engineers and managers working in the technical sector, although there is a small charge for the half day workshops.
