Urgent call for protective equipment donations

Cambridge organisations are rallying in the call to help the NHS with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in response to the to the Covid-19 epidemic. Any company that has surplus PPE is urged to donate to Addenbrooke's Hospital to help NHS staff fighting with Covid-19.

Calls for donations on LinkedIn include one from Katie Hiscock, Events Coordinator at Milner Therapeutics Institute, University of Cambridge, who says in her message:

"We are reaching out to ask for your help. Although the University has sourced a lot of gloves, goggles and other PPE from the departments across Cambridge already, this won’t be enough to support the challenge the NHS is currently facing. They are looking for contacts in companies in the Cambridge area that may have any, even the smallest amount of surplus PPE they would be willing to donate to Addenbrooke's to help NHS staff fighting with Covid19. If you or anyone you know may be able to support the efforts please email me."

Yesterday a similar call came from Kevin Chalmers, VP Operations at Owlstone Medical, who said: "To anyone that I know that works in a clean room - please try and get your workplace to think about helping the NHS - Owlstone Medical donated face masks and lab coats to a local GP through a friend - he just sent me this:

'I gave half the stuff to a local GP, she cried and showed me the B&Q dust mask that she had been using.'

"If you can get anything to them they are desperate - if you can’t help, just share this message please."
