The general market held in the market square is open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm. Around 100 stalls offer a wide selection of goods from traditional offerings such as bread, fish, meat, flowers, fruit and vegetables to the more eclectic.
Shoppers can buy items ranging from vinyl records, quirky gifts and jewellery to books and upcycled goods, as well as an increasingly diverse range of hot and cold foods.
In addition, the All Saints arts and crafts market is held every Saturday between 10am and 5pm in gardens across the road from Trinity College. The ethos of this market is: ‘We Make What We Sell’ and it gives shoppers the opportunity to meet with local designers, artists, photographers and craftspeople, including one who was Glastonbury Festival’s Gold Award Winning Trader 2017.
The council’s Markets team was recently named ‘Markets Team of the Year 2017’ by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA), adding to an earlier Great British Market Award for Best ‘Love Your Local Market’ Festival. The markets have also recently been awarded Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence 2017.
Britain’s Favourite Market is voted for annually by the public, with the vote being organised by NABMA.

Cllr Rosy Moore, Executive Councillor for Environmental Services and City Centre, said: “Cambridge’s markets are always exciting, vibrant places to visit, packed full of knowledgeable traders selling an amazing range of goods.
“The markets really add something unique to life in the city centre for residents and visitors alike. I would urge everyone to take the time to vote for them as Britain’s Favourite Market.”
