Work continues on Chisholm Trail project

Construction continues on the Chisholm Trail and Abbey-Chesterton Bridge this week.

Work will start on the Coldhams Common section of the trail from Friday. The existing path will not be closed but short temporary diversions and signage will be in place to divert pedestrians and cyclists around the work, which will take approximately four days.

The commons consent granted by the Planning Inspectorate requires the works on Coldhams Common to start on or before 15 January 2021. This includes the link to Barnwell Lakes and the improvements to the existing footpath between Newmarket Road and Coldhams Lane.

Workers will be keeping to strict social distancing rules and will be wearing PPE where necessary.

The Abbey Chesterton Bridge and Chisholm Trail is a joint project between the Greater Cambridge Partnership and Cambridgeshire County Council.

The 26km trail will create a mostly off-road and traffic-free route between the two railway stations.

Further information regarding the project can be found on the project page.
