WiFi Surveys and Installation

A wireless (or WiFi) site survey is essential in the planning and installation of the wireless network in your business or home.

Our AirMagnet WiFi surveys cover existing and new wireless networks for best performance.

New WiFi networks

Properly planning your business or home wireless network can save time and money in the long run. Using our own WiFi signal if one currently does not yet exist, our AirMagnet survey can identify the potential signal hotspots and “notspots” in your building.

This will help ensure that Access Points are strategically installed to give the most comprehensive coverage and the most cost-effective price.

We can plan and install your building's WiFi infrastructure, ensuring optimal speeds and coverage.

AirMagnet survey software

Our Advanced WiFi survey includes a detailed AirMagnet heat map report which shows you the strength of the signal in various locations across the site using a colour key.

We can also propose recommendations, with full costings, on solutions to maximise your network coverage.

Existing WiFi networks

For existing network infrastructure, our experienced engineers can audit your wireless to identify any potential sources of interference or obstructions which may affect your wifi coverage.

We can also create colour-coded heat maps which identify areas across the building where your signal is weakest. This means can diagnose any issues and find solutions that ensure optimum coverage without over-saturation of signal.

Terminate and Test

Terminate

Electrical contractors may run Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a copper cabling or fibre optic cables during their installations but may not have the skills, tools, or equipment to correctly splice/terminate and test them. We do.

Millrose’s “Terminate and Test” service can terminate copper and fibre cables to industry standards and provide test results using calibrated Level 3 Certification testing equipment (including Fluke).

Test

As part of our installation process for copper and fibre optic cabling, Millrose offers three levels of testing depending on what you need from your data installation, from basic continuity testing to Certification for ensuring that the cables have been installed to industry standards and maximum performance where a manufacturer’s warranty is required.

These levels, with increasing levels of testing criteria, are: Verification, Qualification and Certification.

Verification

This is basic level testing to check basic continuity check and confirm, via wiremap testing, that the cable is providing functionality from end to end. Verification also provides basic troubleshooting to ensure your network is up and running but does not qualify or certify a cable to manufacturer and specification standards if a warranty is required.

Qualification

Cable qualification testing includes the Verification criteria, but more accurately troubleshoots any issues and qualifies cable bandwidth with more advanced testing equipment.  Qualification also determines whether the cables installed can support Gigabit Ethernet and VOIP. This is an ideal solution for smaller sized installations, or if you do not require the manufacturer warranty.

Certification

Where installations need to meet strict industry standards, and for future-proofing your cable installation, Certification is the most rigorous of the testing levels. Certification includes all the components of Verification and Qualification, but using highly-calibrated certification test equipment. We will robustly test your network cabling to assess performance and confirm specification compliance. Our engineers will provide you with a full graphical report of your network’s performance in pdf format.

Comms Room Service

Did you know that a messy network cabinet, comms room or data centre with trailing “spaghetti” cables can be a health and safety risk?

An untidy comms room or data cabinets can also cost in extra time and money when changes are required. It can cause issues during fault finding call-outs, adding to the time it takes to trace cables and possibly resulting in other users being mistakenly disconnected. It can become unreliable, crowded, and difficult to manage for future moves, adds and changes. Not ideal for a business workplace and it may result in increased downtime and lost productivity.
