Applications software & UX developer

TTP is a leading technology consulting and contract product development business with expertise across a range of markets including areas such as Medical Devices, Sensors, Life Sciences and Communications. We are now recruiting to strengthen our software, user interface and data analysis capabilities to build 21st century healthcare systems. You’ll be joining our diverse community of biologists, engineers, physicists and human factors designers to create user centred products that improve healthcare. Our customers range from innovative start-ups through to mature multinational pharmaceutical manufacturers and healthcare providers. They keep coming back for our long track record of delivering high volume devices and open handed business approach. As with all our consultants, you’ll be encouraged to contribute to all stages of development, from project proposal through production release with opportunities to blend leadership and practice, developing your technical and business skills. Likely projects include distributed healthcare systems, multi biomarker monitoring, user (as opposed to patient) empowerment and next generation drug delivery devices. TTP is an employee-owned business operating from pleasant surroundings on our own science park in Melbourn, South Cambridgeshire. Our working culture encourages entrepreneurship with a track record of spinning out successful businesses. We share ideas and collaborate to provide you the freedom to do your best work. Working as part of our multidisciplinary teams, you will be responsible for developing smartphone and tablet user interface software for our connected medical devices. Your software will create a rich interface to simplify and enhance users experience of these next generation devices. This includes presenting complex data in simple and configurable ways that builds users understanding and engagement. Pushing the state of this art needs dedication to collaborative design between human factors psychologists, industrial designers and mechanical engineers as well as software and electronics. As with all our consultants you’ll be contributing at every stage of the development cycle, from concept proposal through development and formal test validation to production deployment. This will include creating concept demonstrators using a range of prototyping tools to gain user feedback early in the development cycle. You’ll be selecting strategies for multi OS and screen size support to ensure our products can rapidly deploy at scale.

Requirements

You’ll be coming from an instinctive coding background, with a love of experimentation to find out what works best from a user’s perspective. There’ll be a restless search for the most elegant solutions without losing track of the need to produce a finished product. You’re curious, imaginative, creative and ready to take the initiative. This means you’ll be happy taking either a top down or bottom up approach to design as appropriate.

You will have released (or been part of a team who has released) multi-platform apps showing a dedication to finishing. You’ll understand physical principles with a willingness to learn where necessary, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.

We expect you’ll have a 1st or upper 2nd class degree from a leading university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related subject, but you may have come by another route.

An interest in video game design would be an advantage.
