The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electronic Technician to join our Hardware Development group at 42T. You will contribute to the Electronics team’s projects developing proofs of concept, prototype and small batch build electronic assemblies and systems for our clients.

Main duties / key responsibilities:

  • PCB assembly build.
  • PCB assembly re-work.
  • Construction of prototype electronics assemblies.
  • Building and modifying test rigs (electronics & electronical and some mechanical assembly).
  • Building and testing prototype electronic assemblies including wiring assemblies.
  • Testing electronics assemblies and systems.
  • Writing test plans.
  • Contribution to problem solving.
  • Electronics design work (supporting electronics engineers).
  • Schematic capture of electronics.
  • Component ordering.
  • Deputy Electronics Lab Manager.
  • PAT testing.

About You

Education/Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Educated to HNC level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

Essential:

  • Soldering/de-soldering/PCB repair skills.
  • Mechanical build and assembly of electronics including connector/cable assembles and wiring looms.
  • Experience using multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience testing electronics.
  • Ability to read electronics schematics.
  • Identification of components in an electronics system/assembly.
  • Ability to understand terminology used in electronics component and system datasheets.
  • Experience using schematic entry tools such as Altium Design SE or similar.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to participate as part of a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of problems.
  • Good written English for conversing with colleagues by email and/or for writing reports.
  • Capability to understand and discuss technical concepts with colleagues.
