We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Head of Business Planning to join our senior management team. This role will be responsible for Bids, Estimating and Commercial planning/ management of the overall bid process & business planning, supporting two of our key Business Lines, Deployable Infrastructure and Vehicle & Mission Systems.

 

Key responsibilities in this role include:

 

  • Own the business activity for all bids within the business lines
  • Develop and implement Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) strategies to ensure alignment between demand, supply, and financial plans.
  • Drive the activity of functionals teams allocated to a bid to meet customer deadlines and to achieve compliant bids or innovative bid solutions to shape customer thinking.
  • Ensure the contributors to the bid process have thoroughly scoped the financial/ commercial implications of their contributions and that concepts have been ‘tested’ through the gate process.
  • Influence the thinking of the business line directors/ key stakeholders when shaping a bid to drive a competitive solution.
  • Partner with Commercial, Engineering and Operations leads through the bid process.
  • Lead, mentor and manage a team to ensure pace in delivery of commercial bid solutions
  • Create medium/long terms strategic plans to develop the efficiency and effectiveness of the bid process to drive the ‘win rate’
  • Identify areas for process improvement and develop solutions to strengthen S&OP processes.
  • Drive/provide oversight to your team in the business planning process from sales pipeline through to resource and capacity planning.
  • Ensure professional career development for your teams
  • Lead, support, guide and manage the teams ensuring best practice and compliance standards are met, managing performance, developing the team and driving engagement to drive and support the team to achieve the business goals
  • Partner with stakeholders both within the business lines and the Global Business Growth Teams
  • Lead, develop and deliver the Bid Strategy by engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ensure effective resource planning to meet bid deadlines
  • Deliver cost effective/ innovative bid solutions
  • Develop and maintain S&OP best practices and policies.

 

Apply if you have most of the following:

  • Accomplished Head of Bids/ business planning within an Engineering/Production environment
  • Demonstrated achievement in the design and implementation of tender documents.
  • Commercially aware with solid business development and financial management skills.
  • Overseen a bids function/ managing multiple bids ideally government contracts
  • Management of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) strategies 
  • Experience of working at a Head of or equivalent level within a matrix organisation
  • Proven experience of building and leading teams across the range of functions within operations
  • Experienced of handling competing demands for resource and prioritising based on the commercial impact
  • Analytical and detail orientated used to working with data to influence business decisions
