Laboratory QC Technician

This role will be under the supervision of process engineers and scientists and will have two main aspects:

  • Performing quality control of the materials to assess conformance with product specifications
  • Assisting with calibration and maintenance of equipment for scaling up the production of advanced battery materials

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct laboratory analytical tests to assess the performance of the materials. This will include using equipment such as XRD, SEM, PSD, BET and conducting electrochemical performance tests on coin cell batteries.
  2. Responsibility for all aspects of quality control, including production sample testing, data recording and reporting, and maintaining data records.
  3. Summarising and presenting results, analysing data, preparing reports, and proposing process improvements to internal stakeholders.
  4. Supporting further implementation of, and using ISO9001 processes for scale-up and production of battery materials for example, by writing and updating SOPs, assisting with corrective and preventative actions.
  5. Preparation of shipments to customers or partners including preparing the CoAs.
  6. Performing equipment maintenance and calibration, working with the Lab Manager.
  7. Assisting with Goods Incoming checks as needed.

Education & Qualifications required

  • Minimum of 3 A-levels or equivalent with at least one science-based

Experience required

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a lab technician or similar, ideally in a chemistry or materials lab environment

Skills & knowledge required

  • Experience in materials characterisation, particularly XRD, PSD, SEM etc.
  • Excellent laboratory skills, including maintaining a lab notebook, databases, and good housekeeping.
  • Experience in following good occupational health and safety practices.
  • Experience in GLP.
