A position exists for a Post-Graduate Research Assistant (PGRA) or Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics to work on verified algorithms for infinite-dimensional spectra, control, and data science with Dr. Matthew Colbrook to start in October 2024 or earlier/later by negotiation.

The successful candidate will work on developing robust numerical methods for infinite-dimensional spectral computations and data-driven control (broadly understood) under the project entitled "Verified data-driven algorithms for control and neural network training" funded by the Isaac Newton Trust.

The role holder will be expected to plan and manage their own research and administration, with guidance if required, and to assist in the preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the analysis, execution, and foundations of computation. They should demonstrate the ability to think innovatively, an aptitude for absorbing new ideas, and the ability to develop original lines of research inquiry. A strong background in both analysis and programming is essential.
