We are delighted to have talks from CEOs of two Cambridge technology start ups on our programme.  Join us for a summer afternoon of talks and discussions, finishing with networking drinks and canapes.

The theme for CIIPM 2017 is ‘managing IP for commercialisation at the early stages of product and technology development’.  This year’s meeting will consider the importance of timing, for patent filings and information disclosure; aspects of managing contracts to secure ownership of IP – from employee contracts to partner contracts; the importance of trade secrets and managing associated information; the use of patents for competitive intelligence.  We will review patent protection options for Europe looked at from the perspective of information seeking, and portfolio management, including the potential impact of Brexit on regulatory matters and on the new Unitary Patent, now expected to go live by the end of 2017. And take a look into the future for search with new automated techniques.  R&D and patenting are costly affairs, so we are also delighted to have a talk this year on R&D tax credits to complete the technology development picture.

The 2017 meeting will start with lunch, giving more time for the exhibition.   Come early to meet the exhibitors IP practitioners, information service and IP software providers.  The UK IPO will be at the meeting, together with Minesoft, Questel, and Rising Sun Communications.

This knowledge-sharing meeting offers the opportunity to learn through case study examples and input from experts who are rarely together in one place, in central Cambridge.  The event should be of interest to new CEOs, CTOs, and R&D managers of technology companies, IP managers, investors, university technology transfer groups, IP analysts, patent agents, technology scouts, and all those with an interest in technology commercialisation, IP and information matters.

The Cambridge Information and Intellectual Property Meeting (CIIPM) was established in 2015, and is organised by Extract Information Limited and Patent Search and Information Management Limited.  CIIPM events aim to bring together people with an interest in technology innovation and its commercialisation.  The annual meeting provides an afternoon of talks, an exhibition, and opportunities for networking.  The first meeting was held in 2016, and we are also establishing a series of training events in Cambridge. http://www.extractinfo.info/ciipm/training/
