Affordable, carbon-neutral travel bolstered in Cambridge with launch of ride-hailing app Bolt

Bolt - the UK’s second largest ride-hailing app with 3.5 million passengers across the country and 75 million users globally - is launching in Cambridge this week as it continues its UK-wide roll-out.

As the fastest growing mobility platform in the world, Bolt arrives in Cambridge in time for the start of the new academic year, to help local residents, students and new arrivals get around the city and beyond in a planet conscious way. That’s because all Bolt rides in Europe are 100% carbon-neutral as part of Bolt’s Green Plan, a long-term commitment to reduce the ecological footprint of the company.

With the city being renowned for its pedestrian-friendly centre and winding historic streets, Bolt’s favourable rates make it an affordable transport option that complements the city’s bikes and park-and-ride offerings, as well as providing an alternative to costly car ownership, especially for the returning student population.

By providing a safe and affordable way to get about the city, Bolt hopes that its launch will encourage people to make more of Cambridge’s wealth of local businesses and entertainment venues, helping the local culture and economy thrive. Bolt also offers favourable commission rates, meaning greater earning potential for drivers compared to other ride-hailing services.

To celebrate its arrival in the city, riders will have the chance to receive up to £8 off their first Bolt ride by entering the following code into the Promotions section of the Bolt App: YESYOUCAM* when they launch.

Sam Raciti, Bolt’s UK General Manager said: “Cambridge is renowned for its passion for sustainable alternatives to the private car so we’re extremely excited to offer residents here another carbon-neutral way to get around town and keep this momentum going. Sustainable, affordable transport is the lifeblood of a city. We can play a part in helping people get around safely and conveniently so they can explore and get more out of Cambridge and boost the local economy.”

Following its recent launches in Leicester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield, Bolt’s latest expansion in the East of England takes the ride-hailing app to more cities across the country, helping connect people to places they care about.

*Valid in United Kingdom cities where Bolt operates. No minimum spend necessary to redeem the offer. First time Bolt app users only. Expires 31/12/2021. Bolt Passenger T&Cs apply
