Yongli Wang, Minister Councillor for Education for the Chinese Embassy, and Xiaopeng Li, Second Secretary, met with senior staff including Anglia Ruskin’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Iain Martin, during the visit on Friday.

The visitors enjoyed a campus tour and discussed ways that Anglia Ruskin’s Lord Ashcroft International Business School can work with higher education institutions in China to achieve a range of benefits, including knowledge transfer, opportunities for students to study abroad, and the development of business programmes.

Anglia Ruskin already has strong links with China and recently welcomed a group of 21 vice chancellors and senior university officials to learn more from Anglia Ruskin about student entrepreneurship.

Professor Gary Packham, who chaired Friday’s meeting, is also due to travel to Nanjing to speak at a high-profile conference later this year.  Professor Packham, Pro Vice Chancellor (International) and Dean of the Lord Ashcroft International Business School, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Minister to Anglia Ruskin University.

“The Business School is immensely proud of the partnerships it has developed with a number of higher education institutions in China and recognises the significant contribution our Chinese students make to our academic and wider communities.

“Over the past few years we have developed ever more innovative ways to work with Chinese institutions.  These range from offering our Chinese partners an international experience, enabling them to undertake some of their studies at our UK campuses, to helping them gain recognition towards internationally-recognised professional qualifications.”
