AVEVA signs partnership with Engineering Faculty of Gadjah Mada University (UGM)

One of the largest universities in Indonesia adopts industry leading AVEVA software for use within its Research Centre for Engineering Science to train future engineers.

AVEVA has announced the signing of an agreement with Gadjah Mada University (UGM) for AVEVA’s engineering and design software to be used on engineering science courses. Based in Yogyakarta, UGM is one of the largest universities in Indonesia. The agreement includes the implementation of AVEVA Everything3D™, AVEVA P&ID™, AVEVA Laser Modeller™ and AVEVA Bocad™ within the university’s engineering programme.

AVEVA will support UGM’s Research Centre for Engineering Science through a systematic training programme. It will bring real world experience from the oil and gas, petrochemical, power and marine industries to strengthen UGM’s engineering curriculum.

‘UGM’s programmes are designed to serve the needs of industry, so it is important to understand current requirements and trends’, said Dr. Ir H. Muslikh, M. Sc., M. Phil., Chairman of the Research Centre For Engineering Science (PSIT-UGM). ‘AVEVA’s software will enhance the skill set of our students and will raise competitiveness in our teaching modules, achieving the international standards required by the oil and gas, petrochemical, power and marine industries. Our students will have access to international trainers and AVEVA’s industry leading engineering software, thereby equipping them with valuable practical experience’.

‘We are proud to be a part of UGM’s strategic plan to raise the profile of engineering in the region and to meet with the demand for skilled engineers in Indonesia,’ said Dave Coppin, Executive Vice President, AVEVA. ‘Through this partnership, AVEVA is helping the students of today solve the practical engineering challenges of tomorrow. It aims to ensure students are ready for employment within industry as soon as they graduate from the university. AVEVA has successfully implemented similar academic initiatives in other parts of the world, and in all cases both the students and the local engineering community are clear winners. We look forward to seeing positive results from this academic initiative in Indonesia.’

The AVEVA Academic Initiative benefits educational institutions, their students, employers, and the global engineering community. AVEVA's educational partners range from local vocational training centres to the world’s most prestigious postgraduate universities. Common to all is a dedication to developing engineering skills that can be applied directly in the process plant, power and marine industries. To learn more visit www.aveva.com/academic
